Moment of truth: I’m in the way….
Are you a person who second guesses their success? Allows negative brain chatter to cause you to doubt your awesomeness? If so keep reading….
To look at me you would never know I was a hater! I allowed my brain to indulge in self-doubt, and negative chatter; knowing I have the skills to kill it! But just when I’m on the brink of a break-through I get scared and freeze. Like seriously WTH is that?! I get in my head and come up with a thousand reasons as to why I am not ready, or find some way to sabotage myself. Sure, I’ve listened to the all the podcasts, watched videos about mindset. But guess what? None of it matters if you truly aren’t absorbing the information. The thing missing was ME! I wasn’t showing up for myself.
I was consumed, with being a consumer of information but never executing. Becoming frustrated with myself because I was watching everyone else’s glow up, but not having my own wins. You ever get so pissed with yourself because the answer you’ve been waiting for is just so clear you feel stupid. Seriously I was killing my own dreams without realizing it.
Then one day it just hit me, BOOM! I AM IN MY OWN WAY. There was just no other options. I had to get my Sh-t together PERIOD!
After a lot of self-reflection and taking inventory of what I wanted out of life Here are my 5 Tips to Get Out Your Own Yay:
1. Prayer/Mediation– When you allow the negative chatter to continue in your mind you start to believe it. I took the time to reconnect spirtitually with God because I know my purpose is greater. It also affords me the time to just be still and quiet.
2. Self-Care-I was so busy I was unproductive. You know the feeling, you doin a lot but when it’s all said and done what have you done? I started carving out time for me and what I needed. If it was a day to veg and catch up on DVR I did it. Working out or just taking a drive. I carved out time to care for ME.
3. Planning Ahead- As simple as this sounds it makes a world of difference. Before closing my eyes I know my daughter’s things are together, my day is set up for the morning, and the all important lunch is made. My days are so much smoother since I have made the effort to look at my week and then break down my days accordingly.
4. No More Time Robbers– The smartest thing I did was to remove the television out of my room. I also set my phone up so I am no longer alerted about social media posts, and emails. Part of me planning ahead is having that desginated work time and phone time. This REALLY made a world of difference in my productivity and my parenting.
5. Confidence-The biggest key to everything was building my confidence. You know how people tell you to recite affirmations. It makes a world of difference. Honestly you have to consistently be your own cheeerleader and hype man. Everything I think is either in DJ Khaled’s voice or Eric Thomas the Hip-Hop Preacher. LOL (but I’m serious)
If you are one of those people having a hard time getting out of your own way, implement some of my tips I promise you things will defintiely improve. Leave a comment and let me know your thougths.
